Ed has always had a passion for sheep farming and the environment and where better to nurture this than on the Sugarloaf. Of course, Wales has always had an esteemed history in producing lamb of the highest quality and we believe we are situated in the perfect position to bring this right to your door.
Our family-run company strives to deliver you the highest quality lamb from a sustainable and grass based farming system. Reared on and around the Sugarloaf Mountain, high above Abergavenny - 'The Gateway to Wales' we aim to provide you with delicious, high welfare lamb for every occasion.
All of our sheep graze semi improved and semi natural pastures as well as the mountain. Grazing a diverse sward containing native grasses, legumes and herbs results in a slow grown, stress free and delicious lamb which has had minimal intervention from us and has been allowed to mature in the most natural of surroundings.
With full traceability and low food miles this really provides you with full peace of mind knowing exactly where your meal has come from.
All of our pasture is managed with low input methods, nurturing the natural species which thrive there alongside our lambs. We actively implement sustainable practices and coupled with tree planting have provided space for nature alongside our farming business.
We believe this care for the environment and our stock feeds through into our lamb and results in a delightful taste and one which you can be happy to enjoy, knowing it has been reared with the utmost respect and care.
Working with a select number of other local Sugarloaf farmers we can source delicious lamb all year round from selected producers on the mountain. Working with those who share our passion for the area and the beauty of the meat we produce allows us to offer native bred, low input, sustainable, grass fed lamb all year round.
Ed and his partner Hattie have a passion to bring the highest quality lamb to your door!
The year starts with lambing in April when the weather is 'usually' better and our ewes can lamb outside naturally. Throughout the summer our lambs are bounding and grazing around beautiful pastures and hills and enjoying the beautiful Welsh weather and our amazing surroundings.
Then in the autumn we begin to select lambs for butchering as they mature to weight. Each lamb is hand selected by Ed making sure we deliver a quality and consistent product to you.
Finally, when our hard work is done and the lambs are ready for you we team up with a quality young butcher, Ben who shares our vision for providing quality meat to you. Taking real pride in his work!
Of course, we can't do this without our helpful sheepdog Joy, who loves to help whenever she can!
